TRRW January 2021 online meeting

Meeting: January 23, 2021, 10:00 a.m. (EST) via Zoom

Everyone knows that the goal-motivation-conflict triad is incredibly important to successful stories. But sometimes getting that internal GMC ramped up can be a challenge for some characters. Understanding character personality types can provide you with ready-made elements to enhance your story start to finish. In this program, we’ll explore how different personality “types” handle conflict and explore some of the personality traits of the types. We’ll also discuss how understanding your characters’ personality types can deepen your understanding of character motivations, and discuss how to apply a character assessment to enhance conflicts between story people. We’ll discuss several online tests available, and how you can use the characteristics described by the personality types to make your story people richer and more nuanced.

If you want to join us, you can take a version of the MBTI (one of the most popular assessments) at no cost here:

Felicia Browell will present. Her background includes a bachelor’s degrees in psychology and English Writing, an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction, and a boundless fascination with assessments. This session and the assessments are intended solely for use by writers to apply to your story people only (no real persons, please!); Felicia is not certified to administer any of the assessments (that will come later). She will share her lists of resources and recommended sites to all who ask.
